Foreign meddling in political affairs is not anything new. America does it. European Nations do it. Russia does it. And it has been done for years. The USA attempted to assassinate Fidel Castro. The Russians assassinated JFK. Meddling is a time honored practice.

Television and social media have bombarded our senses with catastrophes and disasters, and it has desensitized us. Too many of us have lost our ability to feel and empathize due to the constant overexposure to extreme events.

A disaster cannot be measured in the number of deaths. The measure of a disaster is the amount of suffering. Credit must also be given to the suffering. They are the ones who will rebuild. They are the ones who create tomorrow. Despite their pain they ultimately are the hope of the future.
